MicroBalkans 26 Announced — Lending Reimagined Comes to Skopje
By MicroBalkans Organizing Committee

We are pleased to announce that MicroBalkans 26 will take place in Skopje, North Macedonia, from 24 to 25 September 2026, under the theme Lending Reimagined — Challenges, Opportunities, Solutions.
After Sarajevo (2024) and Dubrovnik (2025), this third edition of MicroBalkans is hosted by the NBFI Group of North Macedonia at the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, together with co-organizers from across the Western Balkans Alliance:
- Association of Microfinance Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AMFI)
- Albanian Microfinance Association (AMA)
- Instant Factoring Serbia
- Association of Microfinance Institutions of Montenegro
- Association of Microfinance Institutions of Kosovo (AMIK)
A sharper, more practical conference
MicroBalkans 26 is built around the real challenges facing non-bank lenders in the region — not aspirational global fintech topics. Across two main conference days (with a welcome cocktail on the evening of 23 September), the programme features:
- Six panels covering why non-bank lending matters, what actually works in digital lending today, SME lending and the missing middle, where capital comes from, the regulatory wave coming in 2027, and the other half of lending — collections, recovery and financial inclusion
- Focused format — every panel is 1 moderator + 3 panelists — depth over breadth
- Fireside chats replacing formal keynotes with candid 1-on-1 conversations, including a spotlight on women reshaping regional lending
- Interactive lunch tables moderated by topic — legal, product, collections, technology, strategy
- A hands-on workshop on practical credit scoring with scarce data
- Innovation Expo product demos at every coffee break
- Two optional Skopje activities on Friday afternoon — Canyon Matka boat tour or Skopje Old Bazaar food & culture tour
Who should attend
We expect around 200 professionals from the regional lending ecosystem — non-bank lenders, regulators, investors, fintechs, and DFIs from the Western Balkans, Bulgaria, Greece, and Romania.
