MicroBalkans 26 Announced — Lending Reimagined Comes to Skopje

We are pleased to announce that MicroBalkans 26 will take place in Skopje, North Macedonia, on 24 and 25 September 2026, under the theme Lending Reimagined.
After Sarajevo (2024) and Dubrovnik (2025), this third edition of MicroBalkans is hosted by the NBFI Group of North Macedonia at the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, together with co-organisers from across the Western Balkans Alliance:
- Association of Microfinance Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AMFI)
- Albanian Microfinance Association (AMA)
- Association of Microfinance Institutions of Montenegro (AMI)
- Association of Microfinance Institutions of Kosovo (AMIK)
- Croatian Association of Credit Unions (CACU)
A practical conference
MicroBalkans 26 is built around the questions non-bank lenders in the region deal with every day. Across two conference days, with a welcome cocktail on the evening of 23 September, the programme brings together:
- Seven panels — why non-bank lending matters, what actually works in digital lending, SME lending and the missing middle, where the capital comes from, a policy dialogue with regulators, the rules coming in 2027, and collections, recovery and the customer relationship
- A keynote and two fireside chats — on lending as infrastructure for sustainable impact, on the five-minute loan and what it takes to keep it compliant, and on the women reshaping lending in the Balkans
- A session with the Minister of Digital Transformation on Digital Macedonia and the DigitMAK project
- Interactive lunch tables led by moderators — legal, product, collections, technology, strategy
- Regional research from Insider ID on what households and companies say about finance
- A CEO Roundtable and an Innovation Expo with live demos at every coffee break
- An optional Skopje Old Bazaar food and culture tour on the Friday afternoon
Who should attend
We expect around 200 professionals from the regional lending ecosystem — non-bank lenders, regulators, investors, fintechs and development finance institutions from the Western Balkans, Bulgaria, Greece and Romania.
Registration
Registration is open. Delegates receive a pro-forma invoice on registering and their place is confirmed once the transfer arrives. Media, regulators and diplomatic missions apply for free accreditation, reviewed by the organising committee.
